Dad
Although mom gave me her fiery temperament, everything else about me comes from my father Nick. Mathematically brilliant, detail-oriented, and the hardest worker I’ve ever known, he instilled these qualities without me even knowing. It wasn’t until I was an adult that I knew the gifts he had bestowed in my character.
For most of my youth dad was an alcoholic whose habit of overindulgence increased from the pressure of an unhappy job. Thanks to an intervention by family and friends, he learned how to turn his life around and gain some control over his tendencies. Conversely, I saw my dad for who he really was, and making him proud of me has been one of my enduring goals in life.
